CC Technology – How it works

The Cooling crystallization (CC) technology can be applied to supersaturated aqueous solutions to promote crystal growth and induce the spontaneous formation of new crystals in the solution. For this you have to work within the metastable zone as shown in the figure on the right.

The solution is being cooled from point C to point D where we cross  the solubility line and here crystal growth can already occur.  This means that the existing crystals will start growing in size. Cooling further we will reach the limit of the metastable zone. After this limit, spontaneous nucleation of new crystals will occur.
